When to pick Calendar It!
- You want it fully automatic: once recognized, the event is written to the calendar unless you cancel within 3 seconds.
- You often handle tidy sources such as flight and hotel confirmations, class schedules and tickets, and you are willing to subscribe.
- You want places resolved to structured locations and meeting links carried into the event.
When to pick SnapCal
- You want to start free: 10 recognitions a month, no subscription first.
- You do not want AI results written to the calendar automatically and prefer to check each field on a confirmation screen before saving.
- Your work calendar is Feishu and events must go there too.
Limits of SnapCal
- One screenshot makes one event, so an image with several events has to be captured in several passes.
- The screenshot is compressed and sent to an AI service for recognition (not kept afterwards), so it is not purely on-device; on-device OCR is only for the preview and is never uploaded.
- iPhone only for now: no Mac or Android version.
Three things to test yourself before you commit
- Take a flight confirmation screenshot and compare how accurately each app reads place and time and whether a meeting link is kept.
- Use Calendar It!'s 7-day monthly trial, then SnapCal's free allowance, on the same 5 screenshots and compare the results.
- Decide which suits your pace, automatic writing or write-after-confirmation; you know best what a wrong event costs you.
Moving over from Calendar It!, or using both
Calendar It! writes events into the system calendar, so existing events need no migration. To switch to SnapCal, turn off "always add" in Calendar It! first so the two apps do not write the same event twice, then install SnapCal and use the share sheet or Recent Screenshots. If you keep both, let only one of them write automatically to avoid duplicate events.
FAQ
Is Calendar It! free?
It is free to download in the China store, but its page says use requires a subscription, with a 7-day free trial on the first monthly plan; the price is not stated, so we mark it not verified. SnapCal's free tier is 10 recognitions a month.
Can Calendar It! write to the calendar automatically?
Its 3.0 page lists direct add and always-add, the latter writing after a 3-second cancel window. SnapCal always goes through a confirmation screen and has no automatic mode.
Will the two apps create duplicate events?
If both write the same screenshot you get duplicates. When using both, let only one app write automatically for a given kind of screenshot.
Does Calendar It! support Feishu Calendar?
Its page mentions only the system calendar (Apple Calendar), so Feishu support is not verified; SnapCal can sync to Feishu Calendar.
